Aimanthecopywriter

Before Otters, Aiman ranked her own portfolio #1 on Google for biotech copywriting. Search became her first client channel, and her biggest. No ads. No outreach.

The starting point

A blank site, in a niche nobody wrote clearly.

Aiman trained as a microbiologist and graduated in 2020, into a job market COVID had shut. She moved into copywriting and chose the field she knew: life sciences and biotech. Most of it read like a lab manual, dense and hard for buyers to follow. She built a five-page portfolio, wrote it for search and for clarity, published it, and moved on. Weeks later it was on top of Google.

The five-page portfolio: short copy, clean navigation, a CTA on every page.

What she did.

The keyword bet

She targeted low-volume, high-intent terms: “biotech copywriter,” “life science copywriter.” Few searches a month, but every one a buyer with budget.

Copy built to convert

Short paragraphs. Clear structure. A direct CTA on every page, each one routing the reader toward the contact form.

Semantic SEO, early

She structured content around meaning and search intent before most of the field had moved. The rankings held.

Search Console, on repeat

She tracked which queries surfaced the site, then rewrote titles and meta to match. New headline, new meta description, stronger position.

Owning the whole result

She ranked her LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter profiles on page 1 for the same terms. One searcher, several ways to land on her.

Search became the channel.

bounce rate across the site

Around 130 unique visitors arrived from search each month. For a service business, that is not traffic, that is a pipeline of prospects. The contact form asked one question: where did you hear about me? The answer came back the same, over and over. Google. The inbound came from biotech and life-science firms across North America, Europe, and Asia.

The instinct that still runs the work.

Aiman was writing for intent and meaning before the field had a name for it. That instinct is what Otters' content house runs on now, pointed at how AI models read and cite sources. The method that ranked a biotech site in 2021 is the method that gets a brand cited in AI search today.
